Andray Blatche is out; Fil-German forward Christian Standhardinger is in.
With Blatche begging off due to security concern, Standhardinger is taking over, reinforcing 11 PBA players in the Gilas Pilipinas team to the FIBA Asia Cup in Lebanon from Aug. 8-20.
June Mar Fajardo of San Miguel Beer, Japeth Aguilar of Barangay Ginebra, Terrence Romeo of GlobalPort, Star’s Jio Jalalon, Phoenix Petroleum’s Matthew Wright, Alaska’s Calvin Abueva, Rain or Shine’s Raymond Almazan and TNT KaTropa’s Jayson Castro and RR Pogoy are the holdovers from the SEABA team.
Completing the Gilas 12 to the Lebanon joust are returning Gilas player Gabe Norwood of Rain or Shine and Gilas cadet Carl Bryan Cruz of Alaska Milk.
They play China, Iraq and Qatar in the group play in the Asia Cup also participated in by Oceania heavyweight Australia and New Zealand and old Asian campaigners China, Iran, Korea, Japan, Lebanon, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Chinese Taipei, India, Hong Kong and Syria.
