Che'Lu Bar and Grill and Go for Gold start their titular series for the 2018 PBA D-League Foundation Cup on Thursday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
Jeff Viernes, Levi Hernandez, and Jessie Collado were big part of those victories and for Tiu, those will be the ones he's expecting to lead as Che'Lu seeks redemption from its runner-up finish in the Aspirants' Cup.
Game 1 of their best-of-five series slated at 5 p.m. and is expected to be another classic duel between the two protagonists.
Che'Lu coach Stevenson Tiu knows their two game sweep of Go for Gold in the eliminations means nothing at this point.
"Back to zero na ito. Hindi magiging ganoong kadali yun para sa amin kasi championship na ito eh," he said.
The Revellers dealt the Scratchers their first defeat, 97-95 last July 3, and repeated it in the final elimination day with a 74-68 thumping last July 26.
"Yun pa rin naman ang challenge ng management sa amin, to go for it," the seasoned mentor said.
Go for Gold coach Charles Tiu, meanwhile, acknowledged that his team is definitely the underdog coming into the championship series, but he's bringing in a renewed optimism with how the team has come together in the semi-finals.
"They beat us twice and we've really struggled against them. But the good thing is it's 0-0 in the Finals and it should be a good matchup," he said.
Gab Banal, Jai Reyes, and Jerwin Gaco will all be counted on to deliver the goods as the Scratchers are motivated to break the glass ceiling and draw first blood in the much-awaited matchup.
