Go for Gold aims for the fastlane to the 2018 PBA D-League Foundation Cup Finals as it bids for a sweep against Marinerong Pilipino-TIP Thursday in Game 2 of their semi-final duel at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
But Go for Gold has the momentum and its motivation to make it to the Finals should make the Scratchers tough to beat.
But Scratchers coach Charles Tiu knows better and reminds his chargers against complacency. Go for Gold dominated Game 1 on the way to a 96-87 victory but Tiu is certain the Engineers will find a way to tie the series in their 4 p.m. game.
"Mas natatakot nga ako. It's hard to beat a team three times in a row, more so four. Luckily, we got away with the win in Game 1, but Game 2 is gonna be tough," he said.
Tiu is well aware of the strength of Marinerong Pilipino-TIP, with Abu Tratter, Trevis Jackson, and Robbie Manalang leading the charge.
"They're a good team, a solid team. They have good players and are well-coached," Tiu noted.
Tiu is counting on Gab Banal and Jai Reyes to once again carry the torch for the Scratchers.
Engineers coach Koy Banal, meanwhile, is hoping that his side's adjustments will be enough to finally get one over the only team they have failed to hurdle this conference.
