Batangas-EAC out to give Cignal-Ateneo a run for its money

CIGNAL-Ateneo has its eyes set on clinching a spot in the 2019 PBA D-League playoffs when it takes Batangas-EAC Thursday at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

The Blue Eagles seek to stretch their winning streak to five when they return to action at 1 p.m.

Cignal-Ateneo is coming off a record-setting 106-31 victory over McDavid last April 16.

And coach Tab Baldwin was just happy to see how his wards, anchored by Ange Kouame, Thirdy Ravena, Matt Nieto, and Isaac Go, are stepping up to the challenge.

"Every other reason we're here is just to play games, get experience, and the PBA D-League is good for that," he said.

At 6-1, a win would automatically qualify the Blue Eagles to the next round of the Aspirants Group.

But the Generals are just as motivated in their bid to stay in the playoff race. They have 2-5 card.

Batangas-EAC is in high spirits after its 91-90 thriller over Family Mart-Enderun last Monday..

"To tell you honestly, all we want is to develop our players. Of course, winning is there but it's important that we also play right and give a good fight,"EAC coach Oliver Bunyi said.

"What we're aiming here is to understand that our preparation for the great teams should start early for us to be able to give Ateneo a good fight," he added.
