FEU seeks last spot as CEU eyes top seed

FAR Eastern University looks to snag the final spot from the Foundation Group for the 2019 PBA D-League playoffs when it tackles Centro Escolar University Thursday at JCSGO Gym in Cubao, Quezon City.

It couldn't get any simpler for the Tamaraws as at 5-3, they are in a must-win situation if they want to progress to the knockout quarterfinals.

FEU coach Olsen Racela is well aware of the stakes, especially after scoring an 88-81 victory over Diliman College-Gerry's Grill last May 7.

"We treated it like a knockout game. So ito ngayon, knockout game na talaga," he said as he looks to lean on his upstart guards L-Jay Gonzales, Alec Stockton, and Wendell Comboy.

Game time is at 12 p.m.

But the Scorpions also want the win, with a triumph securing them the group's top spot as they currently stand at 7-1.

"Di kami namimili ng kalaban," said coach Derrick Pumaren after his side's 116-72 trouncing of Wangs Basketball. "We're going for the win against FEU and we want to have that momentum coming to the quarterfinals."

Senegalese big man Maodo Malick Diouf will lead the charge for CEU as he also expects to get solid outings from Judel Fuentes and Tyron Chan.

A triumph for CEU will gift Marinerong Pilipino the last quarterfinals ticket as the Skippers won over the Tamaraws in their elimination duel.
