Go for Gold-CSB, CEU dispute last semis berth

Go for Gold-CSB and Centro Escolar University face off in a die-or-die match to dispute the last semi-final berth in the 2019 PBA D-League on Thursday.

The only quarterfinal series to go the distance is set at 4 p.m. at the Ynares Arena in Pasig City.

The winner will face St. Clare College Virtual Reality in a best-of-three semi-finals next week.

The Scratchers survived elimination and live for another day by beating the Centro Escolar University Scorpions, 84-81, on Tuesday to force a sudden-death.

Gab Banal delivered the killer blows in the stretch to secure the win for the Scratchers, who allowed a 20-point lead to dissipate.

"When you start getting careless and not pay attention to details, that happens. So I trust our players and our staff to take care of business come Game Two," Tiu said.

For CEU coach Derrick Pumaren the defeat was already a thing of the past and encouraged his troops to get ready for bounce back win.

"We just have to come out and be ready to play for 40 minutes. We can't just play for 20 minutes of good basketball. I've been preaching to them that we have to play our game," he said.
