Marinerong Pilipino seeks all-important win vs. Perpetual

MARINERONG Pilipino makes its last stand in the 2019 PBA D-League when it faces Perpetual Tuesday at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

The Skippers need a victory in the 2 p.m. tiff against the Altas to stay in the Foundation Cup playoff race.

"At least yung chance nandyan pa. Kailangan na lang nating makuha ito dahil yung chance, wala na sa kamay namin," said coach Yong Garcia after his side's 88-85 overtime win over Metropac-San Beda last Thursday behind Santi Santillan, Mike Ayonayon, and Jhonard Clarito.

Should the 4-4, Marinerong Pilipino wins, its place in the quarterfinals hinges on a loss by FEU over CEU on May 23.

For now, the Skippers must first hurdle the Altas.

A loss would eliminate the them from the race, something Perpetual coach Frankie Lim wants to accomplish.

Although the Altas (2-5) are out of the running, Lim wants nothing but to see his side end their campaign on a winning streak after their 86-75 victory over CD14 Designs-Trinity last week.

"Gusto ko yung fact na nage-execute kami. Little by little, parating na kami sa gusto namin na magandang team," he said.
