Marinerong Pilipino seeks second straight win against ADG Dong-Mapua

MARINERONG Pilipino shoots for its second win in the 2020 PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup when it faces ADG Dong-Mapua Monday at the Paco Arena in Manila.

The Skippers have lived up to the hype and showed why pundits regard them as one of the favorites this conference by practically dominating Karate Kid-CEU, 93-57, last Monday.

Still, coach Yong Garcia remains cautious considering Marinerong Pilipino is the only club team in the tourney.

"Yung chemistry pa rin ang kailangan namin. Masaya ako na nag-enjoy yung players sa unang laro namin, pero marami pa rin kaming kulang," he said.

The Skippers are hoping that Jamie Malonzo will finally get the clearance to play and rekindle his partnership with brothers Juan and Javi Gomez de Liano.

Awaiting them in the 3 o'clock clash are the dangerous Cardinals, led by Laurenz Victoria, Warren Bonifacio, and Christian Bunag.

Familiarity with each other's style adds interest to this matchup.

Alcantara and Garcia work together at Mapua, so pitting them against each other is like chess match.

"Kilala ko sila, pero kilala din nila ako. So wala naman sigurong may advantage," said the soft-spoken Marinerong Pilipino mentor.
