TIP bounces back, rips Italiano's Homme

TECHNOLOGICAL Institute of the Philippines got back on track with a 133-98 rout of Italiano's Homme in the 2019 PBA D-League Foundation Cup on Thursday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

Papa Ndiaye poured 15 of his 29 points in the second quarter as the Engineers outscored the Shoemakers, 44-29, to streched a one point lead to 66-50 at halftime.

Ndiaye also had 16 rebounds as TIP bounced back from an 85-70 loss to BRT Sumisip Basilan-St. Clare last Monday.

"We were lucky that the other team wasn't as prepared," said coach Potit De Vera, whose side improved to 3-1.

Warren Calara also made his presence felt with 18 points and six rebounds, Lewis Pamasante chipped in 13 points, while Bryan Santos and Ivan Santos chimed in 12 and 11 markers, respectively.

The Engineers shot 57-percent from the field in the match that saw them lead by as many as 37 points, 129-92, late in the game.

TIP also dominated the boards, 83-52, and forced their foes to commit 28 turnovers, turning those to 22 easy points.

Marlon Monte led all scorers with 33 but couldn't save the Shoemakers from going down in defeat.

Francis Munsayac also had 17 points for the newcomers, which fell to 1-1 in Group B.
