Valencia City aims to bolster playoff drive, takes on struggling Perpetual

VALENCIA City Bukidnon-SSCR tries to take another step towards the 2019 PBA D-League playoffs when it takes on Perpetual Thursday at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

Tip-off is at 11 a.m., with the Golden Harvest seeking to improve their 4-1 standing in the Foundation Group.

Valencia's 96-64 rout of Wangs Basketball last April 9 pleased coach Egay Macaraya, who expects another solid performance from his troops led by Allyn Bulanadi.

Macaraya, however, knows that Bulanadi will be a marked man against Altas.

"The only thing na sinasabi ko sa mga bata is lagi naman yung physicality, so we have to adapt sa sistema. Just focus on playing because only the strong will survive," said Macaraya, who is also counting on guys like RK Ilagan and Alvin Capobres.

Meanwhile, Perpetual (1-4) is motivated to halt its two-game losing skid, the last one an 83-64 defeat to Chadao-FEU last April 11.

Altas coach Frankie Lim will lean on Ben Adamos upfront, but will have to get more contributions from the guards led by Edgar Charcos and Jielo Razon to win over their NCAA rivals.
