Che'Lu Bar and Grill-San Sebastian and Gamboa Coffee Mix-St. Clare face off in the first of two quarterfinal duels Tuesday in the 2018 PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup at Pasig Sports Center.
Gamboa-St. Clare coach Jinino Manansala, however, believes that his wards can give their foes a run for their money, especially with how the team made a late run to make it to the top six.
Revellers coach Stevenson Tiu is confident of his side's chances in the duel given his side's promising form on their playoff preparations.
"I'm confident that we will prevail because my players showed eagerness in our practices," he said, as the four-seed Che'Lu-San Sebastian will be armed with the twice-to-beat advantage against the five-seed Gamboa-St. Clare in the 2 p.m. game.
Tiu has also left no stones unturned as he beefed up his squad with the acquisitions of high-scoring Jeff Viernes and solid frontcourt support in Cedrick Ablaza and Jay-R Taganas to aid the young squad which relied mostly on veterans Samboy de Leon and Alfred Batino since Michael Calisaan injured his elbow midway in the conference.
It will be a completely different Revellers side which pulled off the 79-73 win against the Coffee Lovers last March 6.
"Ito namang mga bata, sige lang ng sige eh. Ready lang kami kasi alam namin na mabigat ang kalaban. Pagaaralan namin sila ng mabuti para mabigyan namin sila ng magandang laban," he said.
Fil-Am guard Trevis Jackson will steer the Coffee Lovers on their attempt to force a winner-take-all Game 2, while he will be supported by hardworking forward Aris Dionisio and Malian big man Mohammad Pare.
