Alas keeps positive mindset on PBA resumption

THE perpetual optimist that he is, Phoenix coach Louie Alas feels confident the PBA will be able to resume and finish its 45th season before the year ends.

While friends and people close to him have been discouraging the veteran coach about the possible restart of the pro league, Alas is keeping a positive mindset.

"Lahat ng naka-paligid sa akin sinasabi, 'coach, next year na yan, next year na yan.' Lahat (sila). Pati yung mga kapatid kong nasa out of the country sinasabi, 'o, wala na kayong liga," said Alas.

But the veteran mentor remains adamant and told the program Sports Page over TV 5 and One Sports that like the Phoenix bird, the PBA is going to rise from its ashes.

"Sabi ko (sa kanila), hindi mag-i-start ito," said Alas, who even projected a possible September return for the league.

The looming start of team workouts hopefully, before the month of July ends, is the first step towards the right direction.

Like the rest of the ballclubs, the Fuel Masters according to Alas, are all raring to get back on the court, even if it meant just doing shooting drills and personal conditioning.

He added the key is to strictly follow the health guidelines to be implemented by the league.

"Maging maingat lang kami lahat, huwag matigas ang ulo," said the Phoenix coach.

"Sundin lang lahat yung protocols at maganda ang mangyayari dito." (RG)
