All is set for PBA's Bacolor journey

THE Philippine Basketball Association is now all set for the Season 46 Philippine Cup restart, having gotten the nod of a state university in Bacolor, Pampanga to host the resumption of the tourney initially held at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

Barring any hitch, the all-Filipino tourney starts rolling at the Don Honorio Ventura State University gym on Wednesday with a triple-header.

The PBA holds triple-headers on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays and double-headers on Thursdays and Saturdays in the resumption of the tourney paced by the Magnolia Hotshots (4-0) and the TNT Tropang Giga (3-0) with their clean slates.

"I would like to express my great appreciation to the endorsements of Gov. Dennis Pineda and Cong. Dong Gonzales. Sobrang laki ng tulong nila," said PBA commissioner Willie Marcial on the endorsements made by Pineda and Gonzales to the board of trustees of the state university in Bacolor.

The board of trustees agreed in principle to their hosting of the PBA games in an online conference with the PBA commissioner, deputy commissioner Eric Castro and executive assistant Mich Flores Wednesday.

"Mabigat ang endorsement ni Cong. Gonzales considering he's a board member of the school," said Marcial of the Pampanga lawmaker who's long been a friend of the pro league.

The PBA will observe strict health protocol in their Bacolor journey, including weekly RT-PCR tests and antigen tests the morning of every playdate.

All concerned individuals will take their first test in Pampanga on Monday.

"Kung walang problema, start na tayo Sept. 1," said Marcial. (SB)
