Arwind Santos believes San Miguel will successfully defend title

Arwind Santos strongly believes San Miguel will successfully defend the PBA Commissioner's Cup title pretty much the same way when they battled back from 0-3 deficit to claim the Philippine Cup championship two years ago.

Barangay Ginebra holds a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven-playoffs after defeating San Miguel, 87-83, in Game 5 Sunday to move within a win of wrapping up this titular showdown.

But Ginebra's Public Enemy No. 1 remains optimistic of San Miguel's chances going into Wednesday's Game 6 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

"Di pa naman tapos di ba? Sabi nga ng bawat isa sa amin, yung 0-3 nakasurvive kami, ito pang isang panalo lang, diba," Santos said referring to San Miguel's historic 'Beeracle' run against Alaska in the 2016 Philippine Cup Finals.

He is also fully aware that the Beermen will have to get their acts together if they really intend to win this thing.

"Dapat nasaktan kami sa talo na 'to, dapat wake-up call sa amin 'to na makabawi kami sa Game 6," Santos said.

The veteran forward, however, couldn't help but feel bad about their inability to secure the pivotal contest that saw them up by five in the closing minutes.

San Miguel had a chance to tie the game at 86-all in the final seconds, but Santos, who recovered Marcio Lassiter's missed three-point try, hurriedly launched a shot from at least 30 feet that hit the side of the rim.

"Ako ang naglalaro lang sa isip ko dapat panalo kami e," he said. "Pero di naman natin mapapalitan yung pangyayari. Bawi na lang kami next game."(JT)
