Free falling KIA gets a shot in the arm in bid to end slump

KIA gets a big helping hand come its faceoff against Rain or Shine Saturday in the PBA Philippine Cup.

And what a firepower this one will be.

The Picanto are going to parade new acquisition Carlo Lastimosa in their 4:30 p.m. encounter with the Elasto Painters at the Astrodome in their bid to turn their campaign around in the all-Filipino tournament.

The team has yet to win after four games in the season - the last three of which were blowout losses - urging management and the coaching staff to look for help elsewhere.

They found one in Lastimosa, who was relegated to the unrestricted free agent list by NLEX before the season started and later on, formally released by the Road Warriors.

However, the entry of Lastimosa doesn't guarantee an immediate win for KIA especially against a Rain or Shine side that is coming off a rousing victory over Phoenix.

The 120-99 win the Elasto Painters posted against the Fuel Masters got them back on track and evened their record at 2-2.

Coach Caloy Garcia said the 21-point rout should only spur the Elasto Painters to do even good against the Picanto.

"I just hope we can continue doing the same thing just like what we did (against Phoenix)," he said. (RG)
