Garcia signs fresh two-year deal with Phoenix

RR Garcia has been signed to a two-year contract extension by Phoenix Super LPG.

The terms of the new deal were not disclosed but Garcia is grateful for the opportunity.

"Masaya ako, kasi nabigyan ako ng pagkakataon na maipakita na puwede pa akong maglaro sa PBA," said the 31-year old guard, who had a stellar performance in the PBA Philippine Cup bubble.

Although the Fuel Masters fell one game short to advance to their first finals appearance, Garcia's performance certainly served him well.

What a break.

Garcia's playing career was headed for nowhere when TNT Tropang Giga relegated him to the free agent list following a forgettable stint during the 2017-18 season.

Tinuluy-tuloy ko lang, nagpakundisyon ako," said Garcia, who was picked sixth overall by GlobalPort in the 2013 PBA Draft.

The combo guard out of Far Eastern University got a new lease of life when former Phoenix coach Louie Alas recruited him to bolster Phoenix's backcourt.

(RJ)
