Hotshots need to play with sense of urgency, rediscover how to win

Magnolia coach Chito Victolero readily confessed that the Hotshots need to play with a sense of urgency.

The reigning PBA Governors' Cup champs have lost their first two games to start their 2019 PBA Philippine Cup campaign.

Their latest defeat came against San Miguel, 92-113, on Sunday in a rematch of last season's Philippine Cup Finals eventually won by the Beermen.

"Right now, we have to have that sense of urgency. Kailangan na naming mag-start mag-laro ng laro namin. Kasi mahirap malubog," explained the 2018 Baby Dalupan Coach of the Year awardee.

Victolero said the Hotshots are still far from the form they would want to be.

"Wala pa talaga kami sa rhythm at sa timin.," he said.

Victolero hopes the Hotshots would get their bearings back sooner than later. But that's easier said than done considering the workload ahead of them.

After a two-week break, seven tough games await the Hotshots, including the Manila Clasico against Ginebra on March 17.

"After Wednesday's game (versus Rain or Shine), papahinga nanaman kami, and it's hard. And then, pagbalik namin, in eighteen days we have seven games and that's very hard," Victolero rued.

"Sobrang hirap ng schedule namin," he added.

Victolero isn't blaming the schedule for their poor start, though. He instead urged his chargers to find ways to regain their old form as soon as possible.

"Kailangan siguro, mag-start na kaming ibalik ulit 'yung timing tsaka 'yung rhythm naming. Kasi 'yun 'yung kulang eh. Hindi kami maka-bwelo ng dire-diretso." (JB)
