It's a case of one game at a time for embattled SMB

IT'S back against the wall, San Miguel needs all of its focus concentrated on Game 3 of the PBA Governors' Cup semifinals.

Nothing more, nothing less.

The second seeded Beermen dug themselves into a deep 0-2 hole when they lost for the second straight time against defending champion Barangay Ginebra, 121-103, leaving them with no other choice but to complete a three-game sweep if they were to advance in the finals.

And everything starts in Wednesday's Game 3 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum where the Beermen have to put everything on the line.

"We have to think of Game 3 only," admitted coach Jorge Gallent. "We have to win Game 3 and put their mindset that we're not on vacation yet."

History though, is not on the side of the franchise.

This is the only fourth time San Miguel is down 0-2 in a best-of-five series, but marked the first time the Beermen are in the same predicament for the second straight conferences after likewise losing to the Bay Area Dragons their first two semifinal games during the Commissioner's Cup.

Although San Miguel has yet been swept in a best-of-five, it hasn't won a series either when trailing 0-2, all of them leading to a 3-1 finish.

But Gallent won't have none of it and remains adamant.

"Ginebra has to win three games to enter the finals, and it just only won two," said the San Miguel coach. "As long as there is a chance, it is my job to push them to get one win which is Game 3." (RG)
