Japeth Aguilar out 10 days due to calf injury

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel's Japeth Aguilar could be out for more than a week after hurting his right calf while serving the national team in the recent window of the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers.

Aguilar watched from the sidelines as the Kings absorbed a 124-118 setback to the Blackwater Elite at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Friday. He is also scheduled to miss Sunday's encounter with the San Miguel Beermen.

"Minimum 10 days, sabi ng doctor," Aguilar said regarding his timetable.

He is the latest Ginebra player to sustain an injury after Greg Slaughter, Sol Mercado, Jervy Cruz, Julian Sargent, Raymond Aguilar and Art dela Cruz, which left coach Tim Cone with 10 players in uniform against Blackwater.

Joe Devance made his Governors' Cup debut against Blackwater after missing the first three games due to a knee problem.

The 6-foot-9 Aguilar said he got hurt with two minutes remaining in Team Pilipinas' 92-81 victory over Qatar in Monday's closed-door match at the Big Dome.

The injury worsened during one of the Kings' practice sessions prior to their game against the Elite.

"Actually nung last two minutes ng Qatar game, dun ko naramdaman," he said. "Alam kong may game kami (against Blackwater), tapos during practice na-injure ko siya ulit." (JT)
