Jeron Teng all set to join PBA Rookie Draft

October 08, 2017

Former La Salle standout Jeron Teng is set to file his draft applicationMonday, making himself available for the 2017 PBA Rookie Draft slated on Oct. 29.

Through his agent Danny Espiritu, Teng has informed the PBA Commissioner's Office in advance of his submission of his draft papers three days ahead of the Oct. 12 deadline.

The 6-foot-2 forward, fresh from a stint with the Chooks To Go Pilipinas team in the recent FIBA Asia Championship Cup in Chenzhou, China, is tipped to be among the top draftees in the 2017 draft exercise.

Twice Finals MVP in the UAAP, Teng could well be in the Top Five with Christian Standhardinger, Jason Perkins, Raymar Jose, and Kiefer Ravena should he also decide to join the draft.

Standhardinger, Perkins and Jose have submitted their draft applications ahead of Teng.

Deadline of draft application among Fil-foreign players was over.
Among those who beat the deadline are Standhardinger, Perkins, Jason Potts, Felix Apreku, Andreas Cahilig, Julian Sargeant and Zach Nicholls.

Meanwhile, homegrown players have until Thursday to throw their hats in the coming draft where Kia is No. 1 in the draft order.

Kia coach Chris Gavina has said they intend to pick Standhardinger although the Fil-German forward/center still needs to honor an obligation with the Hong Kong team in the Asean Basketball League.

Homegrown hopefuls who have formally applied for the draft include Lervin Flores, Jonjon Gabriel, Christian de Chavez, Alvie Bringas, Jason Nalos, Carlo Gomez and Dan Sara.

Flores is a slam-dunk champ from Arellano U while Gabriel earned spurs with Colegio De San Lorenzo in the NAASCU.
