June Mar Fajardo says sorry for losing his temper

June Mar Fajardo expressed regret for momentarily losing his temper in Game 2 of the PBA Commissioner's Cup semi-final series Monday.

The four-time reigning MVP got a technical for spiking the ball after converting a basket with 9:39 left in the second quarter and the Beermen behind 34-23.

Fajardo quickly shrugged off the incident to help San Miguel Beer rally from 16-points down and topple Alaska, 105-94. The victory gave the Beermen a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-three series and move on the verge of advancing to their second finals appearance this season.

"Sorry, sorry, nanggigil ako," Fajardo said afterwards. "Di ko alam, parang nanggigil lang ako kasi gusto rin namin manalo tapos down kami. Pero okay na yun. Sorry."

Technical fouls are very rare for the mild-mannered Fajardo from the time he turned pro as the top overall pick of the 2012 draft.

His most notable offense happened in the 2014 Philippine Cup semi-finals against Rain or Shine when Fajardo and Larry Rodriguez had to be separated when things got out of hand while the two players were jostling for position inside the paint.

Fajardo later recalled having been scolded by his mother for taking exception at Rodriguez's physical play.

He was also slapped a technical foul in Game 7 of the 2015 Philippine Cup Finals against Alaska when he shoved then-Aces center Samigue Eman, who elbowed Ronald Tubid.

Other than those two incidents, Fajardo has been a picture of calmness on the hardcourt.(JT)
