LA Tenorio: We're down but not out

LA Tenorio vowed to make up for Barangay Ginebra San Miguel's disappointing setback in Game 4 and try to orchestrate a comeback from a 3-1 deficit against defending champion San Miguel in the PBA Philippine Cup semi-finals.

Ginebra was left helpless against San Miguel's red-hot shooting and absorbed a 102-81 defeat at the Mall of Asia Arena that put the crowd favorites on the brink of elimination in the season's first conference.

Only three teams have erased such deficit, one of which was pulled off by Ginebra's predecessors in the 1991 First Conference Finals against Shell which ended on a Rudy Distrito winner in Game 7.

"We're down but we're not out pa," Tenorio said after finishing with 20 points on 9-of-16 shooting.

The Kings have three chances to stay keep their conference alive, beginning on Saturday at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.

Games 6 and 7, if necessary, will be held Monday and Wednesday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.

Tenorio is also banking on past experiences in hopes of completing a rare turnaround, something Ginebra experienced in last season's Philippine Cup.

Ginebra, ranked seventh in the eliminations, overcame Alaska's twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals before erasing Star's 2-0 and 3-2 leads to win the semis series in seven games. The Kings eventually lost 4-1 to the Beermen in the finals.

"We're not going to quit nang ganun-ganun lang," he said. "We just have to really be focused on everything that we do. Kailangan namin na sobrang pulido kasi we cannot afford to make mistakes, especially against San Miguel.

"Yun ang nangyari sa amin (sa Game 4). Pinagbayaran talaga namin pag nagkakamali kami," added Tenorio. "We really have to focused on lahat talaga, every detail na gagawin talaga namin especially next game. We'll be ready, we're not going to quit right away."
