Magnolia coach Chito Victolero blames poor defense in loss to Ginebra

Magnolia Hotshots coach Chito Victolero did not like the way his team played defense against Barangay Ginebra on Sunday in the PBA Commissioner's Cup.

Victolero rued the performance of his players on the defensive that enabled the Kings to runaway 104-84 victory over the Hotshots.

"There so much breakdown on defense, especially on the second half," said Victolero.

"Yung patience namin dun sa depensa medyo nagkulang kami, so I think may factor yung depensa namin because Ginebra scored 104 points and that's not our identity," he added.

After the game Victolero and Paul Lee had a heart to heart talk with center Rafy Reavis inside the dug out for a considerable amount of time.

Victolero has all the reasons to do it because of Reavis' below par performance against the Kings.

Reavis played for 13 minutes and contributed only two points, two rebounds and a steal.

However, Victolero declined to say what he and Lee discussed with Reavis.

"Meron lang akong mga sinabi sa kanya because he is the captain ball. It's about our preparations next game," said Victolero.

Victoleto said they have to correct their mistakes as soon as possible because their game against NLEX is a do-or-die encounter.
