Pasaol welcomes first bubble training with Meralco

ALVIN Pasaol finally gets to join Meralco in training camp as the Bolts return to Laoag, Ilocos Norte for the second time in a month.

It's the first time the 6-foot-2 rookie linked up with the team in a bubble training after initially skipping the Bolts' first camp last month as he accompanied the Gilas Pilipinas 3x3 squad that saw action in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Graz, Austria.

The Bolts were supposed to leave for Ilocos Norte last June 11, but opted to defer the trip and just waited for Pasaol and deputy coach Ronnie Magsanoc to finish their quarantine upon arrival from Austria.

Pasaol didn't get to suit up for the Gilas 3x3 team as he was replaced by fellow PBA rookie Leonard Santillan in the official roster during the OQT proper.

Yet despite that, the former University of the East star is eager to contribute to Meralco whatever he gained in the experience of playing for the national 3x3 team.

"Madadala ko from 3x3 yung mentality na never giving up, na laban lang ng laban," said the burly rookie.

The Bolts arrived in Laoag on Monday and then had their first practice the following day.

Aside from scrimmages, the Bolts were also seen doing workouts by the scenic beach of Ilocos Norte.

Pasaol, 25, already scrimmaged with Meralco once during its practice session in Batangas earlier on.

He was the Bolts' first round pick (no. 9 overall) in the last rookie draft and later on, signed to a two-year contract. (RG)
