PBA thankful to Sotto, Pasig for hosting new season

THE PBA is grateful to the local government of Pasig for opening its door to Asia's pioneering pro league.

Commissioner Willie Marcial paid a courtesy call to Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto after giving the league the approval to have the Ynares Sports Arena to serve as home for its 46th season.

Marcial made the personal visit before the 2021 Philippine Cup kicked off over the weekend.

Sotto, brother in-law of recently retired Magnolia big man Marc Pingris, welcomed the PBA chief to his office together with Pasig City administrator Jeron Manzanero.

The two briefly talked about the new league season and how the schedule for the all-Filipino conference will be going.

Sotto told Marcial the Pasig government is ready to support the league if needed knowing basketball is close to the heart of every Filipino.

In gratitude for the all-out support lend by the City of Pasig for the league to hold its season amid the pandemic, Marcial presented Sotto with the PBA official ball.

Sotto, ironically was a baller himself, who once played as part of the high school varsity team of Brent International School in Pasig.

"Nagpasalamat ako sa kanya sa lahat ng tulong na binigay niya para matuloy itong ating bagong season," said Marcial. (RG)
