Stint with national team pays off for Blackwater's Poy Erram

Confidence is at an all-time high for Blackwater center Poy Erram, whose play has slowly improved thanks to his recent stints with Team Pilipinas in the Asian Games and FIBA World Cup Qualifiers.

Erram has been getting plaudits due to his solid roles in the national team's fifth place finish in the Asian Games held in Jakarta and the recent fourth window of the World Cup Qualifiers where the Filipinos split the two matches against Iran and Qatar.

"Mas umangat pa," Erram said. "Ang laking tulong nung experience ko at yung mga tinuturo nila sa akin. Nadadala ko siya sa team ko at naaapply ko siya."

The former Ateneo standout picked up where he left off Wednesday when he posted 19 points and seven rebounds in the Elite's come-from-behind 113-111 victory over the NorthPort Batang Pier at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

His stint in the international front has given Erram a bigger responsibility as far as club duties are concerned.

"Laking tulong for me pagdating sa kahit papaano leader ng team," he said. "Parang yung mga mas bata sa amin naglolook-up sa amin so kailangan ko talaga kontrolin sarili ko sa game."

Now, Erram could only expressed his satisfaction both for his solid stint playing for flag and country and with the way the Elite have performed in the PBA Governors' Cup.

The latest win kept Blackwater unbeaten after three games, its best start since the team's inaugural run in the 2014-15 season.(JT)
