Tenorio thrilled to be playing again

LA Tenorio didn't deny having some concerns when it finally dawned upon him that the PBA is set to restart its season through a special bubble at Clark in Pampanga.

The Barangay Ginebra veteran said being away from his family for the next two months won't be easy especially with his wife having given birth to their first daughter just last week.

It didn't help any either, that he also has three young sons to think about.

"Parang mahirap, kasi on my part, to be honest, having a baby and three boys growing," related Tenorio in the Athletes' Tribune.

"Honestly, nag-dalawang isip ako."

But the ultimate pro that he is, the 36-year-old point guard said he has a duty and responsibility to his team, the league, and most especially to basketball fans.

"As a professional, I really have to do this. Not only for me, but also for the team, (and the fans)," said the player considered as the new 'Iron Man" of the PBA. "It's not going to be easy, it's a challenge ulit sa akin as a player."

The league officially announced last week that it is now preparing for the resumption of the season through a planned bubble at Clark.

The Commissioner's Office hopes to complete the Philippine Cup in a two-month stretch or at least, by the second week of December.

Initially, Tenorio was thrilled about the prospect of finally playing again after being idle for the last six months following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

But when reality finally sets in, the playmaker out of Ateneo also had some doubts.
"Habang papalapit na, nagkaroon ka na ng anxiety," said Tenorio.

He did talk to his family and seriously discussed the matter. While it was a tough decision, in the end, his wife and kids understand the situation.

"It's going to be challenging for me, not only physically, but emotionally and mentally," he said.
That says a lot about LA's never-say-die spirit.
