TNT-ROS tiff: Search for takeoff for steadier play

PHILIPPINE Cup titlist TNT Tropang Giga and Rain or Shine face off in the year's final game, both determined to gain traction and get going by play resumption early next year.

Game time is at 6:45 p.m. in the finale of the league's two-day Christmas presentation backed by Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte and aptly dubbed as "Season of Joy."

The Tropang Giga and the Elasto Painters are both off to a shaky start in the PBA Governors Cup with the former at 1-2 and the latter at 2-2.

And each side is looking to bounce back from a loss the last time out.

Coach Chot Reyes' crew fell to an 83-80 defeat against the Bolts in their last game while Chris Gavina's troops were shellacked by the Magnolia Hotshots, 109-98, in their most recent outing.

The Tropang Giga have been struggling as import McKenzie Moore is finding it hard to hit his stride.

Moore himself is not happy with his performance.

"Obviously, struggling a little bit. Got to be better. Pretty plain and simple," said Moore.

The TNT bench chieftain understands Moore will take some time to get familiar with their schemes. The question is how long the team's patience will last and up to when will the team stick with the newbie import.

The Elasto Painters and Henry Walker, meanwhile, have been on a rollercoaster ride.

Rain or Shine dropped games against Terrafirma and Magnolia while winning over Blackwater and Phoenix Super LPG.

ROS could have been at 3-1 or 1-3 with the E-Painters splitting tight games against Terrafirma and Phoenix.

They pulled off a gutsy 90-88 verdict over erstwhile unbeaten Phoenix after a 112-106 heartbreaker to Terrafirma.

Basically, Gavina and his chargers long for consistency in what they're trying to do. (SB)
