Marinerong Pilipino and Che'Lu Bar and Grill-San Sebastian finish off their 2018 PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup elimination assignments on Tuesday with heavy playoff implications hanging in the balance at Pasig Sports Center.
Regardless of the result, though, the Skippers are assured of at least a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarters.
For the Skippers, at stake in the 4 p.m. tussle is a chance to keep themselves in the hunt for the top two spots which comes with an outright semi-final berth.
But coach Koy Banal doesn't want his wards to feel pressured with the situation, keeping their focus on the task at hand as they aim to extend their seven-game winning streak and gain momentum ahead of the playoffs with their 8-2 card.
"Same gameplan lang. We'll be our usual self, go to practice, and be ready to go all out. The game will take care of it. Again, we just want to keep on rolling," he said.
Marinerong Pilipino is coming off a 78-66 victory over Perpetual last Tuesday, and Banal is looking at Alvin Pasaol, Rian Ayonayon, and Billy Robles to once again lead the fight for his side.
"Di na namin tinitingnan yung one or two. If that happens na outright semis kami, we'll be thankful. But if not, we'll still have the twice-to-beat," said Banal.
For the Revellers, meanwhile, a win would propel them to the three-seed as they seek a better standing from their 7-3 slate.
Coach Stevenson Tiu is taking this last game as a gauge for Che'Lu-San Sebastian as he tries to mimic the playoff atmosphere in this tiff.
"Pareho kaming unbeaten sa last five games namin, so we're really taking it as a challenge," he said. "We really have to prepare early for Marinero."
