JOLLO Go caught fire in the payoff period to help Marinerong Pilipino escape Adalem Construction-St. Clare, 76-71, Tuesday in the 2022 PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
The veteran guard dropped eight of his 19 points in the final canto as the Skippers scored seven unanswered points to erect a 73-66 advantage with 1:36 remaining.
Go went 4-of-8 from distance and hauled five rebounds to lead Marinerong Pilipino in the bounce back win to rise to 3-1.
Kemark Carino collected 12 points, eight boards, and four blocks, Juan Gomez de Liano registered 11 points, four rebounds, and four assists, and Paolo Hernandez had 10 points from two treys for the Skippers as they atoned their loss to Wangs Basketball @26-Letran last Friday.
The win, however, still had its tense moments as Johnsherick Estrada kept the Saints within striking distance, pulling his side within four, 75-71, in the last 13.5 ticks before Carino sealed the game off with a pivotal board.
"Masaya kami na nanalo kami sa game na ito pero ang dami pa ring lapses. Kailangan every time na tatapak kami sa court, ibigay namin yung best effort," said coach Yong Garcia.
