Saints, undermanned Scorpions begin semifinal series

RIVALRIES will be renewed when St. Clare College Virtual Reality and Centro Escolar University face off on Monday for Game One of their best-of-three semifinals series in the 2019 PBA D-League at Paco Arena in Manila.

The Saints are eager to prove something in their breakthrough Final Four appearance.

"We want to show them that we're a different team, that this time, we are more ready for them," said coach Jinino Manansala.

Led by Junjie Hallare, Joshua Fontanilla, and Ray Rubio the Saints underscored their readiness for the semis battle with a stunning 65-60 quarterfinal win over Metropac-San Beda last Tuesday.

Game time is at 2 p.m.

The Scorpions, on the other hand, are trying to pick up the pieces after seven of their key players were expelled from the team on allegations of game-fixing.

"I don't know of our chances. Hopefully, ma-sustain namin yung heart and yung intensity namin as a team," said coach Derrick Pumaren a their 84-74 Game Two win over Go for Gold-CSB last Thursday.

Senegalese big man Maodo Malick Diouf will be the rock for CEU with Rich Guinitaran and Franz Diaz providing support.
