Zark's Burger-Lyceum eyes to be the lowest seed to make it to the championship round when it goes for the jugular against Marinerong Pilipino on Thursday in the 2018 PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup semifinals at Ynares Sports Arena.
Coming to the playoffs as the six-seed, the Jawbreakers have been on a tear as of late, with their last being a thrilling 90-87 Game 1 victory in overtime against the Skippers on Tuesday.
Coach Topex Robinson, though, warned his wards to have no let ups for the 4p.m.. game, especially as he puts immense trust on his camp led by CJ Perez, Jaycee Marcelino, and Mike Nzeusseu.
"It's really going to sharpen us if we let them play and keep them doing their thing. If you have the trust, you know they're going to do the right things for us," he said.
But just like the past two duels between the preseason favorites, Robinson knows that finishing the best-of-three series isn't going to be a walk in the park.
"They're gonna find ways to win, but again, our focus is on what we have control on and make sure we stay humble. It's always about humility," he said.
For Marinerong Pilipino, on the other hand, coach Koy Banal acknowledges that there's no more tomorrow and it has to go all-out if it wants to extend the series to a deciding Game 3 next week.
"More than the technical aspects of the game, it's the mental facet of the game that we need to fix and I believe we'll do better in Game 2," he said, confident of the Skippers' chances against the upset-hungry Jawbreakers.
Rian Ayonayon, Alvin Pasaol, and Abu Tratter will once again be at the forefront of the fight for Marinerong Pilipino.
