After Ross, Williams braces for Barroca showdown

FROM Chris Ross to Mark Barocca.

It's the challenge TnT rookie Mikey Williams has to go through as he chases a first ever PBA championship.

After getting Ross out of his way, Williams now needs to contend against Barroca as the two are expected to be matched up in the Philippine Cup finals between the Tropang Giga and Magnolia Hotshots.

The 28-year-old Williams earlier named Ross and Barroca, along with Magnolia teammate Jio Jalalon, as the players who really defended him well in his first season in the league.

Williams and the Tropang Giga are through with their job against Ross and the San Miguel Beermen, who they eliminated in a seven game semifinals that went the full route.

But for them to win the championship, they still have to take care of business against the Hotshots.

Facing one good defender after the other is a challenge Williams is willing to embrace.

"They're both really good defenders. They put a lot of pressure on teams," he said of Barroca, Jalalon, and Ross.

The rookie guard however said, it's just a matter of managing and figuring out ways how to beat the pressure defense applied to him.

"If you manage and control that, and figure out ways to neutralize that, I think we'll be fine," said Williams, who is in top contention for the Best Player of the Conference award.
