Ahanmisi primed up for playoffs against Magnolia despite hyperextended shoulder

MAVERICK Ahanmisi assured he'll be ready to go for Barangay Ginebra's PBA Philippine Cup quarterfinals series against rival Magnolia.

The Fil-Am guard suffered a hyperextended shoulder in the Kings' final play against the NLEX Road Warriors Sunday night which they lost, 76-72.

He went down while going for the rebound after missing his step back jumper.

"I was going for the rebound and (Anthony) Semerad just ran by and pulled my arm back," said Ahanmisi of the sequence that led to his hurting shoulder.

He said the shoulder felt numb afterwards. But the good thing though, he didn't suffer a dislocated shoulder.

"It's still very tender, but I can move it though," said the Ginebra guard.

Ahanmisi finished with 14 points and grabbed four rebounds in the loss which hardly affected Ginebra's standings heading to the playoffs.

The Kings finished their elimination round campaign with a 7-4 record and kept their hold of the no. 2 spot with a twice-to-beat-advantage against seventh seed Magnolia.

The 32-year-old native of California said he'll try to see how the shoulder feels in the next couple of days as he will continue to put some ice on it and have the necessary treatment.

And yes, he looks forward to competing against Magnolia in an early 'Manila Clasico' match up in the playoffs.
