Almazan stays with Rain or Shine, but won't rejoin the team for the remainder of season

RAYMUND Almazan stays with Rain or Shine, but will no longer suit up in the team's last three outings in the PBA Governors Cup.

Almazan and his mother ballclub threshed out their differences on Monday after both parties met over lunch at the company head office in Pasig.

No less than co-team owner Raymund Yu was on hand to talk with the 29-year-old center, who was with his agent Danny Espiritu and wife Liza.

Also present were team governor Atty. Mamerto Mondragon and coach Caloy Garcia, who's reported misunderstanding with Almazan led to the big man going 'AWOL' in the team's last six outings in the season-ending meet.

Yu described the incident between the player and coach as a case of 'miscommunication,' which saw Almazan skipped practices and the Elasto Painters' last six outings.

The team executive urged Almazan and Garcia to already move forward and leave everything behind.

Almazan though, has been told not to suit up in the Elasto Painters' last three games against Phoenix, San Miguel, and NLEX, but is expected to report back for the team's practices by the time Rain or Shine begins preparing for the league's next season starting November.

Rain or Shine hurt its playoffs chances after suffering back-to-back losses against Columbian Dyip and Meralco in a three-day span. It currently occupies ninth place in the standings with a 2-6 record. (RG)
