Beermen, Road Warriors eye bounceback win in CDO tiff

SAN Miguel Beer and NLEX are both regrouping and will try to get back on track as they collide in a Saturday road showdown in the PBA Governors' Cup in Cagayan de Oro.

Both dropped their last outing against separate opponents and thus slid to second place in Group B both at 2-1, yielding the solo lead to the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters (3-0).

The Beermen wobbled at the finish and suffered a 102-108 loss to the Barangay Ginebra Kings Tuesday. The following day, the Road Warriors hit a roadblock after leading by as many as 21 and went down to a crushing 105-124 defeat opposite the Elasto Painters.

And so it's recalibration time as they slug it out at 6 p.m. in the second out-of-town offering in PBA Season 49.

A week ago, the Elasto Painters beat the Gin Kings, 73-64, in a slow-scoring, defensive battle in Candon, Ilocos Sur.

A third and last road tiff is set in Panabo City on Sept. 7, pitting Magnolia versus Meralco.
Up in CDO is a match with a possible shootout between CJ Perez of San Miguel Beer and Robert Bolick of NLEX, two of the leading guards/wing guys in the league today.

Import matchup pits Jordan Adams and Myke Henry, reinforcements with decent initial showing in the local pro league.

Adams had a 50-point, 11-rebound sizzler in their 128-108 rout of the Blackwater Bossing but was then held to 23 markers by Ginebra two nights later.

Henry, meanwhile, was good for 37 points in their 100-95 win over the Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters. And he looked on his way to another explosive game with 16 points in the first half versus the Road Warriors. But he was limited to five in the second half.

And so both are out for redemption.(SB)
