MERALCO resumes chase of a place on top in a crucial PBA Commissioner's Cup setto versus a Barangay Ginebra side out to build momentum it could ride on going into the playoffs.
Coach Luigi Trillo and the Bolts are currently running third but can vault to the top and gain a twice-to-beat incentive in the quarterfinals with a sweep of their last two games versus the Gin Kings and the Magnolia Hotshots.
Meralco and Ginebra clash at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum with a win allowing the Bolts to catch up with the TNT Tropang Giga at second at 8-3, half-game behind the Batang Pier who finished the elims at 9-3.
The Kings, however, will surely be a tough obstacle as they're determined to close out their own elims campaign with a win.
Assured of a spot in the Top Six, the Kings are looking to get going for positive vibes as they head to the post-elims play.

There's still actually a slim chance for the Kings to be involved in a heavy jam at second place. Ties will be resolved by the quotient tiebreak.
The Bolts are coming off a long break after nailing a third straight win with a 100-93 drubbing of the San Miguel Beermen in a road showdown in Candon, Ilocos Sur on Jan. 18.
Before that win, Akill Mitchell and his teammates rolled past the Terrafirma Dyip, 105-91 and the NorthPort Batang Pier, 111-94.
That seven-point win over the Batang Pier would be significant for the Bolts in case they pull even at 9-3.
The Kings, meanwhile, will set out for battle coming from a 120-92 rout of the Elasto Painters that sealed Ginebra's quarters entry. (SB)
