Cabagnot on PBA return: 'I just want to help Converge'

Veteran guard Alex Cabagnot is making his return to the PBA, this time wearing the purple and white colors of the Converge FiberXers.

But the nine-time league champion is coming back with a modest mindset of trying to help the young FiberXers squad to become a much better team and not chase on any other accomplishment.

"I just want to help the team," Cabagnot said. "I recognized having the personal accolades, you don't really admire it until you are fully retired."

"It's not for now. We're focused on hopefully, maka-playoff kami. We go to certain places that we've never been before. The milestones na iniisip ko, you will truly admire it when you're fully done."

Cabagnot was signed to a two-conference deal by the FiberXers only last Monday, but the 41-year-old, former Finals MVP winner was able to join his new team quickly on Tuesday's second day of the PBA Media Day presented by ARENA Plus and sponsored by Banh Mi Kitchen, Don Benitos Ang Pambansang Cassava, Pickup Coffee, KangKong King, Taho Klasiko, World Balance, Immuni + Yellow Cab Pizza, Curve Coffee and Hungry Daddy held at the Le Parc Event Hall in Pasay City.

Newly-installed interim coach Franco Atienza disclosed the rationale on signing up the former PBA All-Star MVP.

"Alex is a veteran and a future Hall of Famer. We believe he still has a lot to offer in the PBA. We look forward to his veteran leadership," added Atienza. (RJ)
