Chito Victolero stays positive

Despite Magnolia's sorry defeat in Game 4 against San Miguel Beer in the PBA Philippine Cup Finals last Wednesday, Hotshots coach Chito Victolero will not make a big adjustment in Game 5.

What he's worrying about is how his players would overcome the defeat and how could they maintain the same attitude they displayed during the game.

"Right now I don't have to do big adjustment. Ang importante dito yung players. Paano sila magba-bounce back at magawa 'yung same attitude namin sa game na ito," said Victolero, after picking up their third straight loss in the series that gave SMB a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-seven Finals.

The Magnolia Hotshots Pambansang Manok controlled the game in the first three quarters but succumbed almost one minute left in the fourth quarter as the Beermen eked out an 84-80 victory and moved closer to clinching their fourth straight All-Filipino championship.

No team has won four straight All-Filipino crowns since the legendary Crispa Redmanizers accomplished the feat in 1979, '80, '83 and '84.

Victolero said they don't have problems with their offense and defense and what he needs to do is how to take away the doubts from his players' minds.

"Yung game plan namin maayos. Sa depensa at opensa maayos rin. Ang importante ay kung paano ko maibalik sa kanila yung attitude na ipinakita nila sa Game 4", added Victolero.

Asked if he's affected by the setback, Victolero said he's positive that they can bounce back in Game 5 which will be held at the MOA on Friday.

"I'm always positive kahit na anong mangyari. Experience yan na kailangan namin ng ganito . Sabi ko nga sa mga players hindi kailangan 'yung nothing to lose. Kelangan merong at stake", said Victolero.

He said since they are the underdog in the series there's a lot of things that they have to do like show the opposition that they can compete.
