Chot: Nambatac fits in well with TNT's system

PRIZED acquisition Rey Nambatac is slowly but surely getting more immersed to the system of the TNT Tropang Giga.

Head coach Chot Reyes told sportswriters during the PBA's Media Day that the lefty, talented guard had no trouble embracing the team's philosophy.

Nambatac, traded to Blackwater in the season-ending Philippine Cup last season, but was acquired by the Tropang Giga in the off season in exchange for Kib Montalbo, Jewel Ponferada and TNT's 53rd season second round pick, has been performing really well in tune up matches, according to Reyes.

TNT has won its last two tune up games against Rain or Shine and NLEX.

"Losing Mikey Williams forced us to change drastically. I think Rey Nambatac fits our team really well with our style of play," said Reyes. "We like his demeanor, his character and his work ethic. We hope we could see more of that from Rey in the coming season."

Once a potent threat in offense with Rain or Shine, Nambatac will complement veteran guard Jayson Castro and Calvin Oftana, the team's top two local players, as well as import Darius Days, a 24-year-old, former Houston Rockets player, who came in as a replacement reinforcement for original choice Rondae Hollis-Jefferson.

In the Philippine Cup last season, Nambatac averaged 11.09 points and 4.36 assists per game in 23 minutes of playing time.(RJ)
