Chris Tiu : I'm just fortunate not immaculate

RoS coach Caloy Garcia praised Chris Tiu no end for his timely explosion in the fourth quarter as the E- Painters escaped with a 104-94 victory against the surprisingly tough Blackwater in the PBA Commissioner's Cup on Friday.

Garcia described Tiu's performance as almost immaculate for delivering big baskets to bail the E-Painters out from the brink of defeat.

"Parang immaculate yung dating niya e. Kung kailan mo siya kailangan saka siya nakaka-shoot", said Garcia.

Tiu was five of eight from the three-point region. Three of them in the fourth quarter to thwart a last minute surge by the Elite.

He scored 14 of his 17 points in the fourth quarter aside from issuing 10 assists as the E Painters grabbed the top spot at 7-1 win-loss record.

Informed about Garcia's statement the 33-year old point guard politely refused to acknowledge it.

"That's not true. I missed a lot of shots in the end game, turned the ball over as well and I think that was pretty clear in the last game against Magnolia but coach Caloy just trusted me and I was able to deliver so far in the last three games", said Tiu.

Tiu said immaculate is too much of a word.

"That word is best to describe the Virgin Mary and Mama Mary. I think it shouldn't be the word to describe my performance. I'm just fortunate today and I've been blessed. I thank the Lord for allowing me to knock down shots and make big plays", said Tiu.

Tiu said he's praying to stay healthy and help his team in every way he can and thank coach Caloy for his trust in him. (Zaldy Perez)
