EVEN after all these years, Scottie Thompson still doesn't fail to amaze Tim Cone.
The Barangay Ginebra mentor showered the 6-foot-1 guard with superlatives following that highlight reel rebound he pulled off in the fourth quarter of the Kings' 99-93 win over the Meralco Bolts in Game 2 of the PBA Governors Cup finals.
Cone saw it by his own eyes and was left dumbfounded.
"That kalawit rebound by Scottie. I had a perfect angle on it, and it was amazing," said Cone as he marveled on the feat the Ginebra guard did in collaring the rebound over Meralco's Cliff Hodge and Tony Bishop midway in the final quarter and the Kings protecting a 91-86 lead.
"Those are the kind of plays that win games."

It did, as the Kings now levelled the best-of-seven series at one-game apiece.
Thompson, who Cone personally picked at no. 5 in the 2015 draft, finished with a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds.
But that single play of his was certainly one for the books, an effort Cone said lifted the spirit of the entire team in the middle of a furious Meralco rally.
"Those solitary plays, they only showed up for one offensive rebound in the box scores, but it means so much more," Cone pointed out.
Import Justin Brownlee definitely agrees.
"It gives us an extra lift," said the mild-mannered import who finished with an assist short of a triple double with 36 points, 13 rebounds, and nine assists. (RG)
