Deadline for draft applicants set

THE Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) won't be in complete hiatus when the country hosts the 30th Southeast Asian Games late this year.

The league has calendared December 8 to hold its annual Rookie Draft at the Robinson's Place Manila.

As a way of supporting the country's hosting of the SEA Games, the season-ending Governors' Cup will take a break for the duration of the Nov. 30 to Dec. 11 biennial meet.

Despite the respite, the league will be as busy as a bee during that stretch.

Just days before the draft, all rookie aspirants are set to participate in the traditional Draft Combine set Dec. 4 and 5.

Two deadlines for draft applications have been set.

For Fil-foreign aspirants, all pertinent papers and requirements needed should be submitted to the league by Oct. 23, while local players have until Nov. 29 to turn in their applications.

Last year, Columbian Dyip selected former NCAA MVP CJ Perez as the top pick of the 2018 Rookie Class.

Owing to the SEA Games break, the PBA's 44th season isn't expected to be over at least until January of 2020.
