Diego Dario carries on with fund drive for medical workers

BLACKWATER guard Diego Dario sustained his fund drive to raise personal protective equipment for medical health workers who are in the forefront serving the country in this time of the pandemic.

Dario handed out the third wave of his worthy project that began more than three weeks ago when a friend of his contracted the coronavirus while working as a front liner.

The player's friend has since recovered but stressed the lack of PPE for use by doctors and nurses in their daily grind helping COVID-19 patients.

"That made me realized that I need to do my part to help out kahit maliit lang. Malaking tulong daw sa kanila every help they can get," recalled the sophomore playmaker out of University of the Philippines.

Dario said the continuity of his fund drive wouldn't be possible without the help of friends and donors.

"Thank you to all donors for all your support. All the help, big or small, came a long way," he posted on his social media account.

"We are very grateful to our front liners for the sacrifice and the work that you're doing for the country."

Aside from PPE suits, the donation also includes face masks, face shields, gloves, and head caps.

A total of 1,600 pieces of head caps, 500 pieces of nitrite gloves, 40 face masks, and 25 PPE suits were given to VR Potenciano Medical Center and Salve Regina General Hospital on Tuesday.

He also gave 2 PPE sets to a front liner from the Lung Center of the Philippines as per a request by his former coach Robert Dela Rosa.
Dario had his first batch of donation distributed last April 6 at the Makati Medical Center, followed by another one two weeks later at the Marikina Valley Medical Center and St. Anthony Medical Center.

He said donation drive is closing out for the meantime but vowed to continue aiding medical health workers and people in need during this time of the health crisis.

"Thinking of helping the underprivileged sector of our communities," said the Blackwater player, who reminded Filipinos to stay safe, stay home, and save lives. (RG)
