EASL: Beermen in must-win over Dragonflies

SAN Miguel faces a do-or-die situation in Japan as it faces reigning B. League champion Hiroshima Dragonflies in the East Asia Super League (EASL) Home and Away Season 2 on Wednesday night.

The Beermen are winless in three games in Group A entering the 6:10 p.m. game at the Hiroshima Sun Plaza, making it a must win for the PBA representative to stay alive in the race for a Final Four spot.

The team will parade a new import tandem in Torren Jones and Jabari Narcis, who takes over the place of Quincy Miller.

Eight-time MVP June Mar Fajardo and CJ Perez will again lead the local side of San Miguel, which will miss however, the services of wingman Don Trollano (shoulder injury).

Things are not going easy for San Miguel though, as it will be up against a Hiroshima side that is currently on top of their group alongside the Taoyuan Pauian Pilots.

The Dragonflies sport a 3-1 record as they dealt the previously undefeated Pilots an 84-73 beating on Christmas Day at the Taoyuan Arena in Chinese Taipei to forge a two-way tie at no. 1 in Group A.

Hiroshima's lone loss so far was inflicted by Korean side Suwon KT Sonicboom, 80-78, last Dec. 4 in South Korea.

The B. League champions are again parading the explosive duo of imports Kerry Blackshear Jr. and Dwayne Evans II.

It was Evans, 32 and product of St. Louis, who spearheaded the Dragonflies in their win over the Pilots by scoring a game-high 33 points. (RG)
