THE Greater China team seeing action in the East Asia Super League (EASL) starting in October will compete as guest ballclub in in the Governors' Cup of PBA Season 47.
The entry of Bay Area Chun Yu Phoenixes is expected to add spice to the reinforced-laden conference that presently employs imports with a height-limit of 6-foot-6.
Free agent standouts from China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan will comprise the roster of the Phoenixes, who will be managed by Liu Quansheng, former general manager of the Chinese Basketball Association.
The team already has a coach, but would make a formal announcement soon.
Commissioner Willie Marcial said the PBA Board already approved the participation of the team representing Greater China next season, which will also follow the rules on conference eligibility.

With Hong Kong seeing action in the league, the team will likewise play its home games in the EASL in Manila.
That meant the country will have three home teams playing in the soon-to-be-launched Asian league, counting the two other ballclubs representing the PBA.
It likewise increases the number of EASL home games in Manila from six to nine. (RG)
