Fajardo bags 2018 PBA-Master Sardines Best Player of the Conference award

June Mar Fajardo has further raised the bar in individual accomplishments in the local pro league.

The San Miguel Beer behemoth is now a seven-time PBA Best Player of the Conference winner and is well on his way to become a five-time PBA Most Valuable Player.

After collecting five BPC plums in the Philippine Cup and one in the Governors Cup, Fajardo increased his haul Friday night in winning the BPC derby in the 2018 PBA Commissioner's Cup.

PBA commissioner Willie Marcial, PBA governors Alfrancis Chua, Robert Non and Bobby Rosales, and Dr. Junjun Kaw and Ariana Kaw of Universal Canning Inc. were on hand to award Fajardo the PBA-Masters Sardines BPC trophy moments before Game Four of the Commissioner's Cup Finals before a huge crowd at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

And with two BPC citations in the 2017-18 PBA season, the season MVP award could well be everything but a mere formality for the Cebuano gentle giant.

Fajardo was the runaway winner in the stats race and drew the nod of the media, his fellow players and the PBA Commissioner's Office for a total of 1,153 points.

Alaska Milk's Vic Manuel was the runner-up with 766 points, with Stanley Pringle of GlobalPort coming in third with 545 followed by Sean Anthony, also a Batang Pier, with 384 and Chris Newsome of Meralco with 360.

Until Fajardo's arrival, Fernandez and Patrimonio were the league barometers with their identical four MVP hauls.

Fernandez was the winner in 1982, 1984, 1986 and 1988 while Patrimonio had his MVP harvests in 1991, 1993, 1994 and 1997.

But Fajardo is fast distinguishing himself as the most dominant best player of all time.
