FORMER PBA chairman Reynaldo D. Gamboa, a businessman-sportsman also known to be the founding chair of a national collegiate league, passed away Friday. He was 81.
Gamboa was a consummate gentleman elected to serve as chairman of the PBA board of governors in 1999. Previous to that, he was vice chairman, while representing Pilipinas Shell Petroleum ball club.
He was among the Shell leaders behind the Turbo Chargers when they won back-to-back crowns in the 1998 Governors Cup and the 1999 Philippine Cup under coach Perry Ronquillo and with a team led by Benjie Paras, Gerry Esplana, Chris Jackson and Vic Pablo.
At the time of his death, he's still in basketball, serving as chairman of the Philippine Collegiate Champions League.
He was also a founding member of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas board.

His remains lie in state at the Capilla De La Virgen, Santuario De San Antonio Parish, Makati.
