Ginebra-NLEX tiff: Very crucial or non-bearing

DEPENDING on the result of the San Miguel Beer-Blackwater duel Saturday, Barangay Ginebra and NLEX are either engaging in a crucial face-off or in a non-bearing tussle Sunday.

For whatever it is, the Kings and the Road Warriors vow to come out and leave everything on the floor in a bid to keep winning momentum and prep up for the bigger battles ahead in the tourney.

They clash at 7:30 p.m. at the Smart Araneta Coliseum to close out their stints in the double-round elimination phase in Group B.

Both could already be playoffs-bound by Saturday night. That's the case should San Miguel Beer deliver the killer blow on Blackwater in their showdown at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

A Blackwater victory, however, would keep the Bossing in the hunt.

If that happens, Blackwater ties NLEX at 4-5. They will continue their race for the last quarters berth from Group B as the Road Warriors tangle with the Gin Kings Saturday while the Bossing tackle the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters Monday.

For Ginebra, to be determined is final seeding in the playoffs.

At posting time, Rain or Shine leads the race for pole position at 7-2 followed by San Miguel and Ginebra both at 6-3, then NLEX at 4-5.

Out of the playoffs race in the group is Phoenix Super LPG at 1-9.

Already settled are the four teams - TNT (7-2), Meralco (6-3), Magnolia (5-4) and Converge (5-4) - advancing to the crossover quarterfinals from Group A.
