AT least four or five guest teams are being eyed to join the inaugural PBA 3x3 meet.
Tournament chairman Richard Bachmann of Alaska said the invited ballclubs are outside of the 12 regular PBA teams, which are all set to join as well as the newest venture of Asia's pioneering pro league.
Bachmann said he'll try to finalize everything by next week when he sits down with newly-named tournament director Eric Altamirano along with fellow committee members Joey Guanio, representing the PBA, and Ronnie Magsanoc, representing the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP).
"I will iron things out next week together with Eric," said Bachmann following the first league Board meeting for the year held Thursday at the PBA office in Libis.
"We are tasked by Board to present our plans in our next Board meeting on Feb. 26."

Bachmann didn't mention the names of the guest teams but said their players would be direct hire as there would be no drafting that will be held for the maiden tournament.
"For now basically it's direct hire. So the guest teams will have their own players already," said the Alaska board of governor.
Owing to the current COVID-19 pandemic, the stand-alone 3x3 meet will have to do away with a three conferences format as initially planned.
Instead, three or four pocket tournaments will be held in between conferences throughout the year. (RG)
